Noreastcon 2016 Dates and Location Announced

Noreastcon 2016 will be Hosted by the Long Island Scale Modeler’s Society on April 29-30  at the new Museum of American Armor in Old Bethpage, New York.

It’s too early for many details, but bookmark and visit the LISMS web site regularly for the details as they unfold. Plan now to attend Noreastcon 2016 at what promises to be an exciting venue, and of course, a continuation of the bonhomie that defines the spirit of Noreastcons past and IPMS/USA of today.

Get ready to build and enjoy!

We’ll see you there …

HobbytownUSA Contest a Success for Contestants and Judges

The Contests at HobbytownUSA continue to grow in both size and quality of entries. This time there were several exceptional entries, one an all wooden model of one of the warships from Lake Champlain by the consistently impressive Joe Thatcher, another Bill Dhalle’s lighted model of the USS Enterprise (NCC-1701) in 1/350th scale.

The next Contest is scheduled for April 2015.

Upcoming Shows

There is not much news since last Saturday’s Barbeque, but there are two events members should be aware of:

  1. Syrcon 29, held next Sunday, October 12th in Syracuse, New York. Here is the website.
  2. The following Saturday (October 18th) is our traditional last event of the year, HVHMG 2014, in Poughkeepsie, New York. Some of our members are renting two Club sales tables. Please contact Paul Jendzeizyk if you are interested and have not spoken to him. (356-9025). Table cost will be splitting equally amongst sellers.

Sanford Cup Competition and BBQ

Club members gathered at the home of President Filippone on Saturday, October 4, for the annual IPMS-NENY BBQ and Sanford Cup competition.

The weather was fine, the crisp fall air thick with the spirit of bonhomie and subtle hints of burning competitive desire.

Nine members entered models they had completed since last year’s BBQ. When the votes were tallied, Tim Burke’s 1/35 VW Reichspost delivery vehicle was proclaimed the winner. A fine time was had by all!
