Brian Fowler presented his recently completed diorama "Failed Gamble in the Ardennes".  We've all had the pleasure of seeing this project through its evolution and now we get to see the finished product and take a deeper dive into what he did and what he learned! This diorama incorporated a number of new skills, products, and techniques involving figure painting, 3D detailing, groundwork, mud, and snow, etc.

Mike Fink author of "Intrepid's Fighting Squadron 18: Flying High with Harris' Hellcats"

Mike's book tells the story of one of the highest scoring carrier units in the Pacific War.  He'll spend some time with us talking about the men and the stories behind Fighting 18, his research, and his passion for the topic.

​Mike is former Senior Tour Guide and Manager of Development Content at the Intrepid Museum. An avid researcher, he spent the better part of a decade combing through archives and interviewing surviving squadron members and their families to uncover the story of “Two-a-Day 18,” The USS Intrepid’s highest-scoring fighting squadron.

​Mike's book is available for purchase on Amazon and also through the publisher, US Naval Institute Press.

We talked about this a while back (maybe a few years!) but it's time to revisit this topic! Some of us continue to use one of these wonder tools and others have "taken the plunge" and added one to their modeling arsenal. Those of us that have/use one will share our experiences with the group about lessons learned, what we might do differently next time, etc.

Art Harvey took a trip to Italy’s oldest and currently largest museum of aviation in the summer of 2024. The museum is located on the grounds and in the original factory buildings of the aircraft company founded in 1908 by Giovanni Caproni and features exhibits from Italy's earliest lighter-than-air efforts, through the piston engine era, right up to modern jet, rotor, and tilt-rotor aircraft.  There are a lot of pics, so we're going to play it by ear, in case we have to press pause and keep the second part for a future meeting.  ​

Our admirably well attended holiday party included satisfying comfort food, excellent companionship, a Yankee kits-from-your-stash swap, and a public accounting of finished (or sorta finished) complete-by-year-end pledge builds. It was a fine time!

President Filippone awarded commemorative tokens and the NENY Ceremonial Cowbell rang in accompaniment to huzzas from all meeting attendees in celebration of completed resolution pledge builds and the well intended attempts.
