Figure Painting Demo by Shawn Hayes
Shawn Hayes presented a live demonstration of his figure painting techniques using oils. He showed us how to prepare and mix the oil paints and then apply and blend them to the face of a figure in real-time.

Shawn has sent along three slides from his short intro presentation before the actual painting to share with us: the first states his painting philosophy; the second is a selection of his figures (and models) demonstrating how effective his technique is; the third is a close up of the face he painted for us during the demo.

IJN Mikasa Photo Tour by Harvey Low
Harvey Low of IPMS Toronto presented an informative history with an extensive photo tour of the IJN Mikasa on display at Yokosuka, Japan.

Welcome to 2023!
We held our annual holiday Yankee Swap on December 15, and by this week we've shelved most of the hard feelings over kits that may have been snatched from our deserving hands by supposed friends (at least for the next 11 months) and we resume our normal atmosphere of bonhomie! 

Harvey Low of IPMS Toronto presented a slide show covering his visit to a JGSDF base. The content is rich in background information and walk around style close-up detail photos for several vehicles, including a Fuji AH-1S “Cobra”, Toyota High Mobility Vehicle, Komatsu LAV, Komatsu Type 96 APC, Mitsubishi Type 90, Type 74, and Type 10 MBTs, Mitsubishi Type 74, 105mm, Type 75, 155mm SPHs, Mitsubishi Type 87 AA Gun, Mitsubishi Type 89 IFV, and a Type 94 Beach Minelayer.
