![]() Gundam+Plastic Models: A Gunpla Introduction Make room on the contest tables, aircraft, armor, and car models! Gundam is a burgeoning segment of our traditional modeling universe and guest speaker David Zweigel presented an introduction to Gunpla, including a brief historical overview of the origins and exponential growth of the Gundam modeling world, the basic categories of Gundam kit scales, and the differing levels of difficulty. The presentation also provides links to where you can find more information and purchase Gundam kits. The Low-down on Bristol Blenheims in Japanese Service Say what?? Harvey Low of IPMS Toronto shares his discovery and research of Bristol Blenheims captured and flown by the Japanese during the war. And he built a 1/48 model of one of the aircraft, to boot! Harvey graciously shares all the terrific historical information, period photos, and model photos in this PDF of his presentation. What is this? Paul Dupree wants to know if anyone can identify the vehicle in this picture. Figure Painting Demo by Shawn Hayes Shawn Hayes presented a live demonstration of his figure painting techniques using oils. He showed us how to prepare and mix the oil paints and then apply and blend them to the face of a figure in real-time. Shawn has sent along three slides from his short intro presentation before the actual painting to share with us: the first states his painting philosophy; the second is a selection of his figures (and models) demonstrating how effective his technique is; the third is a close up of the face he painted for us during the demo.
